Guardian Angels Religious
Education warmly welcomes all families to join us in becoming better
disciples of Jesus and in making the world a better place.
We offer Religious Education sessions and Bible Study suitable for all
age groups and hope you will find a group to meet your needs. Perhaps
you would like to study as a Family (contact R.E Office) , we have
several Web Links on our parish website for adults who like to study at
their leisure. We have sessions/meetings at our parish for Young
Adults and Youth as well as Opportunities for Adults,
and for children ages 4 to 16.
Religious Education: Guardian Angels welcomes all children ages 4
and up and all teenagers. We welcome those who are baptized and those
who wish to prepare for baptism. We ask all who participate in our
Religious Education (R.E.) sessions/classes/programs to be diligent and
fervent in attending Mass every Sunday or Saturday p.m.

WE OFFER:
Nursery (ages 6 months to
4 yrs.) during the 10 a.m. Mass on Sundays in Room 8, Parish Center. There is no
charge for this service, but please contact us if you can help one Sunday per
month.
Preschool and Kindergarten RE. for ages 4 and 5 is during the 10a.m. Mass
on Sundays. Registration required. Late September to early May.
Grades 1 through 5 R.E. is on Mondays or Wednesdays (your choice)
3:45 to 5 p.m. Registration required. We have a few whole group workshops/prayer
sessions during year. Mid-September to early May.
Grades 6, 7, and 8 R.E. is on Wednesdays 7 to 8:15 p.m. Registration
required. We offer classroom instruction, whole group activity a few times per
year. Parents and household members are expected to join us for whole group
sessions.
High School Confirmation
is a two year process and is offered on Mondays 7 to 8:30 p.m. Registration
required. Confirmation Year Two candidates have a Retreat weekend as immediate
preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Our format has whole group prayer
and song, sharing on gospel, topic presentation and small group discussion.
Opportunities for social, outreach and other activities are offered at Youth
Group which meets after Sunday 5:30 p.m. Mass
Christian Initiation of
Children and Teenagers for children over the age of 7 who wish to prepare
for Baptism or for older children/teenagers who are baptized and wish to prepare
for the reception of First Eucharist (Holy Communion) is offered on Tuesdays
6:30 to 7:40 p.m. Registration is required. Parents are requested to attend two
sessions per month. Family Gathering is usually the last Tuesday of the month,
6:30 to 8:00 pm.
All R. E. groups have a classroom format with several whole group
gatherings throughout the year.
Home Study/Family Gatherings: We acknowledge that many families have a
time crunch and so we offer home study for children/parents who are not in
immediate preparation for either Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist or First
Reconciliation. We will set the schedule once we know how large the group will
be.
Registration is ongoing for R.E. We charge a basic fee to cover cost of
books/bibles/supplies/snacks etc. However, no child or family is refused R.E.
participation because of an inability to pay. Please call the R.E. office with
any query, comments, or concerns you may have.
Parent/Guardians Sessions: Parents/Children in Grade 2 preparation for
First Reconciliation and Eucharist have several meetings/workshops during the
year.
Parents of Confirmation candidates have a few sessions per year and are invited
to join us for at least three (3) Monday night sessions with their teenager.
Parents of children and teenagers in CIC are requested to attend sessions
with their children on two Tuesdays per month.
Vacation Bible
School is a one week program offered late June for K through 5, from 9am to
12:30pm, Mon. - Fri. It is also a wonderful opportunity for teens & adults to
volunteer their time. Story telling, Saints stories, games, crafts, food, music
and song are offered each day. Teens & Adults have preparation sessions for two
months before the event. Please call R.E. office during the month of April if
you'd like to sponsor or be involved with VBS at Guardian Angels.

Guardian Angels assists and
supports parents and families in the religious education of their children. We
have 45+ diocesan certified catechists and 400 + young people in our Religious
Education program. Family involvement is encouraged and welcomed throughout the
year.
RELIGIOUS
STUDIES OPPORTUNITIES AT GUARDIAN ANGELS PARISH FOR ADULTS
Adult Bible Study
offers Six Weeks with the Bible in Sept. /Oct. /Nov. and Disciples on the
Journey a 6 week reflection on the Sunday Readings during Lent. Each session is
90 minutes per week and is offered Monday or Wednesday at 9 am. Or Mon., Tues.,
Wed., Thurs. at 7 p.m. Some sessions are hosted at the parish and some in
parishioner’s homes. Registration is required as we need to have sufficient
books and sufficient Group Facilitators. Exact dates and times will be published
in the Parish bulletin for a few weeks before the session commences.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) for adults who are
interested in knowing more about the Catholic Faith or in becoming Catholic is
offered on Thursdays 7 to 8:45 p.m. We do our best to accommodate inquirers who
have a schedule conflict for Thursdays by arranging with their sponsors and some
team members to facilitate their initiation process. In April/May/June we
usually hold sessions for Inquirers on a Tuesday p.m.
Please contact us before attending a session.
Bereavement Sessions for adults who have lost loved ones within the past
five years are offered several times per year. We meet on first Saturday of the
month in the Conference Room from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Depending on the group’s
needs we decide on whether to offer a six week session on a Saturday 10
a.m-11:30 a.m. in November. Each weekly session lasts 90 minutes.
Some of the group gathers for brunch or dinner at a local restaurant about once
a month. Details are published in the bulletin.
Women’s Retreat for adults of our parish is offered once a year either
during Lent or late May. We gather for Friday 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. It is a user friendly retreat, based at the parish, cooks,
facilitators, speakers, are all parishioners and it only costs $20 per person.
More detailed information is usually available in the parish bulletin during
Lent.
Parish Retreat for the women of our parish is usually scheduled for the
end of January at Prince of Peace Abbey, Oceanside. Registration forms are
usually available on the counter top of the main entrance to church during

Parish Mission is usually during Lent each year from a Saturday p.m.
through the following Wednesday p.m. Dates and speaker will be published in the
bulletin a few weeks ahead of time.
Become a catechist or assistant catechist with Religious Education or a
sponsor with RCIA and you will find many opportunities to grow in your faith and
to share your faith. All who work with children are background checked. Also you
have opportunities to attend reflection day/s and Diocesan courses as well as
the annual Religious Education Congress in Anaheim.
Ministry of Moms Sharing, MOMS, is a group which meets for nine weeks to
share the spirituality of motherhood. New groups begin in Sept and in April. For

Guess Who Is Coming to Dinner is a
social gathering for adult parishioners at a parishioner’s home. It is held on
the second Saturday of the following months; January, March, May, July,
September, and November. This is a fun and relaxing way to met other

Lay Pastors meet at 9 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month. Lay
pastors contact parishioners on our parish mailing list several times during the
year to see if they have concerns/needs that the parish can help with. We are in
need of many more lay pastors in order to serve all our registered parishioners.
Lay Pastors usually attend a retreat in October. For more information please

Parish Festival in October each year is a wonderful opportunity to meet

Spanish Prayer/Bible Study group
meets on Wednesdays 7 to 8:30 p.m. During Lent, the group uses the Spanish
language version of the bible study the English language parishioners use. For

Spanish group for parents who have children in Religious Education is on
Tuesday 6:30 to 7:40 p.m. in the Conference Room facilitated by Laura 449-7286

Legion of Mary meets in the Social Hall on Thursdays after the 8 a.m. Mass. For

Respect Life Group contact Bob Vega 619-448-0467
Women’s Guild meets at noon on the first Tuesday of the month for lunch and a
brief meeting. They host funeral receptions and are always in need of helping
hands for the receptions. The Guild also sponsors the parish outreach to
Rachel’s House, give donations to the parish food pantry, sponsors children for
Vacation Bible School and assist with other human needs as they arise.
From time to time we have speakers/presentations for R.E. in the Parish Center
and it is open to all parishioners.
Advent Choral Groups: On the first Sunday in December Santee Christian Churches
gather to sing Advent/Christmas songs in the Parish Center. For more information

Many adults enjoy study/meditation at their own pace, so we have a library of
good spiritual books available in the Conference Room. The room is accessible on
Sunday a.m. from inside the parish center, just enter the first door on your
left down he hallway by the stage.
