ADULT FAITH FORMATION (AFF aka Bible Study); Is offered a few times during the calendar year. During Lent 2013 we offer 6 weeks on Living the Eucharist published by Paulist Press. Check it out at www.LivingtheEucharist.org. We have 16 groups gather week of February 11 through week of March 18. Registration closes Feb. 10 or with book shortage.
We will offer 10 week session on Catholicism beginning week of April 8, 2013 through week of June 17, 2013. We plan to have two or three groups so that you will have a choice of time/day. We will read Catholicism by Robert Barron and have the books on sale for $20 tax/shipping included. For more information check out www.CatholicismSeries.org

PARISH RETREAT; is offered once a year, usually during Lent. “Dwell In My Heart” is offered March 1 and 2, 2013. Check in is 5 to 6 p.m. , Mass at 5:30 p.m. , Supper (Soup & Fish Taco) 6 to 7 p.m., Speaker: Dorothy Hulburt @ 7:15 p.m.. This portion is open to all parishioners. At 8 p.m. or so Retreat officially opens with Enthronement of the Word and Introduction of table Facilitators, Night Prayer.
Saturday begins with 9 a.m. Buffet Breakfast and the day is full with prayer, reflection, witness talks, reconciliation opportunity, lunch, talks and group sharing, and closes with prayer c. 3:30 p.m. Registration form is on website homepage. or call parish 619-448-1213 ext 310 or email

CHURCH ENVIRONMENT: Christina Blaylock at 619-449-7316. Several times during the Liturgical Year, the environment changes for the liturgical seasons. Of course, we know that the church is decorated differently for Christmas than for Lent or Easter. All this takes time and planning. If you can help decorate just one season or several seasons during the year, please call so we can coordinate our services.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Contact person for training and problem solving is Betty Vega at 619-448-0467. To become a Eucharistic Minister, one needs the invitation/permission of the Pastor. After which one contacts Betty Vega for a schedule of Diocesan and onsite workshops/orientation.  See our schedule (awaiting update).  (this is a word document and can only be seen if you have Word on your hard drive).

FALL FESTIVAL CHAIRCOUPLE:  Dan & Barbara Plein at 619-417-7327 The Festival is a wonderful community gathering with many foods, games, craft and book sale booths. Entertainment by local musicians is on stage, Friday and Saturday night dancing is very popular with the young parishioners, and a Bingo room for people who like to gamble in small amounts is also available. There is deep-pit bar-b-que dinner and silent auction on Saturday evening in the Parish Center and real live Auction at the outdoor stage area on Sunday afternoon.
Festival meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of July, August, September in the Parish Center, Room 4.
 

FILIPINO-AMERICAN ORGANIZATION:  Pat Philpot 562-7569 is the contact person. The group meets every Friday PM at a member's home to pray the Santo Niño's prayers, share food and companionship. All parishioners are welcome to attend. 
The Fil-Am group hosts a food booth at the annual parish festival: coffee, donuts, pancit and lumpia five or six Sunday am's per year. And on the feast of Santo Niño in January, the group arranges for a special Mass followed by a wonderful fiesta in the Parish Center.
Many members are involved in several ministries in our church.

HISPANIC COMMUNITY: Norma Sanchez is chairperson at 619-449-9418. The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month in a member's home to pray and to plan fundraisers and activities for the year.
They host a food booth at the Parish Fall Festival and arrange a special Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the Sunday near her feast day (December 12) and have a fiesta in the parish center afterwards.
Many members are involved in other parish ministries.
Spanish Bible Study or Prayer Group meets on Thursdays 7pm. Call Rosario at 619-448-2205 or Marisol at 619-334-8623 for more information.  The group meets in homes.

LAY PASTOR MINISTRY: Darlene Szczublewski 619-562-9586.  Our parish has Lay Pastor Ministry which is an outreach ministry to our parishioners. Lay Pastors are responsible for contacting by phone 10 to 20 families per month. For more information, contact our coordinators.  website Info not currently available.

LECTORS: Chris Woodward 619-448-8466.  To become a lector, one needs to be invited to do so by the pastor after which one contacts Father Kevin Casey for a schedule of diocesan and on-site orientations.  See our schedule (awaiting update). LEGION OF MARY: Nena Hines 619- 449-5226  Standing instructions for each member: 1) the punctual and regular attendance at the weekly meetings; 2) the daily recitation of the Catena; 3) the performance of substantial active legionary work; 4) absolute respect for the confidentiality of the business discussed at meetings.
The Legion of Mary meets each Thursday in the Social Hall after 8:00 am Mass. Each member performs some assigned apostolic work during the week and reports on that during the weekly meeting. Each member prays the daily Legion prayers and strives in her or his life to live out the gospel in the spirit of Mary the Mother of Jesus Our Lord.

LITURGY Sandy Brennan at 619-249-8156.  The Liturgy Committee looks to the needs of the Parish in today's Church, and seeks to apply the latest insights of the Church to liturgy, arts and music. The Committee meets in late summer to set goals for the coming year. Our Parish is always in need of members who are willing to help provide the Parish with meaningful and well-planned liturgies that seek to involve the assembly in "full, conscious, active participation."

MINISTRY TO THE SICK: Victor Cole at 619-448-3735  When someone in your family becomes ill or injured, please contact the Parish office and the person's name will be listed on our prayer list. A number of parishioners are designated as ministers to the sick and homebound. These ministers visit and take Holy Communion to parishioners in their homes. The ministers, on visiting the ill/injured person, reads a gospel passage, prays Our Father, and distributes Holy Communion. Contact: Father Cunnane or Father Casey for anointing of the sick or confession/reconciliation. 

MOMS: Debby Melrose at 619-449-9138.  Ministry of Moms Sharing offers two 9 week sessions for Moms in the Fall and Spring.  It is a ministry of self-awareness and awakening to the spirituality of motherhood. Please see the Parish bulletin for dates/times of next session.  Also blue information flyers are available at the main entrance of the church.

PARISH CENTER: Joe Zuniga at 619-448-1213, ext. 309  Our parish center is a 10,000 sq.ft. hall which can be adapted or modified by movable walls into separate rooms of different dimensions. It also contains a very fine kitchen. When the Parish Center is not in use for parish activities, it is available for wedding parties and other social events.

PARISH COUNCIL: President, Ron Kwiat at 619-561-2857.  The Parish Council acts as a representative voice of the people of God to the Pastor. The Council shall provide an open and honest forum of communication and dialogue regarding parish affairs among the Pastor, Associate Priest and the laity. The Council shall assist the Pastor in the administration of the Parish through recommendation and active cooperation. The Council shall continually survey both the spiritual and temporal needs of the Parish, the community and the Diocese and shall develop programs aimed at fulfilling those needs. The Council shall encourage coordination and mutual assistance in the practical working out of the programs of the various Parish organizations.

PARISH FOOD PANTRY: Victor/Veronica Cole or Pam Irvine at 619-448-1213.
We have a well stocked pantry thanks to the donations of so many parishioners. Pantry food donations are accepted every weekend. Please place your donations in the large baskets provided at the main entrance to church. Monetary donations should be marked as such and be either placed in the collection basket during Mass or handed into the rectory office.
Day old bread is available in the foyer of the Parish Center Thursday through Tuesday. It is on a first-come help-yourself basis.
Please call if you or a family you know need assistance and we will have bags of pantry items waiting for you.

PARISH PLANT MANAGER: Carl Drake is our plant manager and can be reached by leaving a message at  619-448-1213.  If you see an area of our parish facilities in need of maintenance/repair or if you have skills/services to offer, please do not hesitate to contact us.
If you love gardening, we have many areas of the grounds that would love to be adopted by a family or individual.

PRAYER QUILT MINISTRY; All are welcome to attend "Prayers and Squares" on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, 9:00 a.m. We meet in either the Social Hall or Cunnane Parish Center. Quilters, sewers, pressers, cutters, helpers are needed. Gratefully accepting fabric donations. Prayer Quilts are available on request for anyone experiencing physical, emotional, spiritual, or other life crisis that would benefit from being "covered in prayers." There is no charge (donations appreciated). Prayer Quilt request forms are available at the back of the Church or in the parish office. Contact Ann Folstad, 562-2184.

PRO-LIFE GROUP:  Coordinator is Bob Vega at 619-448-0467.
The Pro-Life Group meets the second Thursday of the month at 8:30 am to pray, study, and plan activities. They sponsor a pro-life walk at Santee Lakes in October, host an information booth at the Fall Festival, and sponsor a speaker for week-end Masses once a year. They also prepare weekly information paragraphs for the bulletin.

RETURNING CATHOLICS: We offer sessions for "Been Away" Catholics during both the Christmas and Easter season. Sessions are open forum and question and answer format. We also cover FAQ (Frequently asked questions) on Reconciliation (Confession), Mass, Marriage (Annulments/Con Validations), Conscience, Catechism of the Catholic Church, Bible and Prayer.  All sessions are in the Conference Room of the Parish Center.

SCRIP PROGRAM: ....Jean Henderson, 619-249-4024,  jean_e_h2001@yahoo.com We offer two kinds of scrip: paper and electronic. Paper scrip are gift certificates for various stores/restaurants and are sold to parishioners at face value.  Electronic scrip is plastic gift cards for various stores/restaurants and are sold to parishioners at face value. (Scrip cards/certificates DO NOT expire in California). Please note that SCRIP will be sold only in the PARISH office during the week at normal business hours and after the 8:30 and 10:00 am Masses on Sundays (except during the summer when Scrip office closed). Click on the Scrip Page to get a shopping list and an order form!
We also have a community donation card available for Vons and Food 4 Less. You need to remember to swipe your card each time you shop at Vons and Food 4 Less. These cards can be obtained at the Rectory/Scrip Office. Albertson’s is not included in this program any longer. Albertson’s is sold in $50 gift cards thru Scrip.

USHERS: Contact person is Bill Broding 619-850-6756 & leave a message or the lead usher at each Mass. We are in need of many more ushers and greeters, especially for the 5:30 pm Mass on Sundays and for all masses in the children's chapel.

WOMEN'S GUILD: All women of the parish are welcome to attend and become members of the Women’s Guild. We meet once a month for a potluck lunch, fellowship, and a business meeting. The Women’s Guild sponsors various parish activities that include an outreach to Rachel’s House (a program for homeless women), donations and support of the Parish Food Pantry, and scholarships for children to attend Vacation Bible School. We provide luncheons after funerals held at Guardian Angels Church, after the Memorial Mass on All Souls Day, and after the Healing Mass during Lent. We co-sponsor the Angel Boutique at the Fall Festival. The Women’s Guild has two major fundraisers a year - the Bake Sale in December and a “Summer Picnic” in June. All women are welcome to join us in supporting the needs of the Parish.

YOUTH GROUP: Guardian Angels Youth Group meets on Sunday evenings from 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm. Youth Group includes grades 7th through 12th. 9th through 12th usually meet every Sunday evening. 7th and 8th meet one Friday and one Sunday evening as designated in the Church bulletin. We have evenings when we play games, work on projects for the Church and community. We work on fund-raisers to help support the Youth Group. We have evenings of discussions on daily life situations as well as on scripture. We often have off-site trips.
