WELCOME TO GUARDIAN ANGELS PARISH....A warm welcome to all of you who have come to worship with us. If you are visiting our church today, know that we are honored by your presence. Our parish serves the needs of the community in many different ways. We offer preparation for sacraments, religious education for children and adults, social activities, assistance to those in need, comfort to the sick and those who mourn a loss. If we can be of service, please call on us.

ROSARIES FOR PEACE...Sun., Sept. 12, 6:30pm here at Guardian Angels. Rosary procession of lights, Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, crowning of Our Blessed Mother as Queen of Peace. MOMS (Ministry of Mothers Sharing)...the next 9-week session will be meeting on Wednesdays, 7-9pm, beginning Sept. 15 and concluding with a Celebration Dinner on Fri., Nov. 12. Learn to share with mothers of all ages the stress, concerns and positive experiences that have influenced your personal growth. Experience the support of other women as you discover the depth of your spirituality. Blue registration forms/pamphlets are available at the back of church and at the Parish Center. MOMS ~ MOMS’ NIGHT OUT...Fri., Sept. 17, 7-8:30pm, Parish Center Conference Room. The Ministry of Mothers’ Sharing invites all mothers to enjoy light refreshments and Small Group Discussion. This is a casual evening with the opportunity to exchange ideas. Email or call Debby Melrose

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS...a scholarship annuity has been established for parishioners attending SDSU. Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded for the Fall ’10 semester. Applications are available online at the parish website www.guardianangelssantee.org or in the parish office. Completed applications must be received no later than Mon., Oct. 4. Please comply fully with the application instructions; the Scholarship Committee will not consider incomplete applications. Questions? Call Margaret 562-7306.

OUTDOOR MOVIE K-NIGHT!!!...Sat., Oct. 2, 6:30pm. Please come and enjoy a fun-filled evening with family and friends. Your local K of C council will show a movie and provide refreshments. ROSARITO PROJECT: Love, Hope, Trust and RACHEL'S HOUSE:
...we are not accepting donations at this time. We will resume in Sept. In the meantime please feel free to donate to your other favorite charity, or hold them until Sept. or deliver directly to Rosarito or Rachel’s House.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES... School Supplies for children who live on the hillsides of Rosarito are being accepted in R.E. office as of Aug. 15. Supplies most needed are: composition notebooks, pencils/sharpeners/erasers, colored pencils, black & red pens, highliters, glue, white out, water color sets, metric rulers, calculators, pocket-size tissue packets, scissors, geometry sets, graph paper, spiral notebooks, coloring books, penmanship books, and small soaps.

PARISH FOOD PANTRY…
needs: peanut butter, jelly, jam; canned: milk, fruit, roast beef, tuna, chicken, spaghetti sauce, chili, ravioli, beef stew, corned beef, pork‘n’beans; instant milk packets; individual: juice boxes, instant oatmeal packets, cereal boxes. We also gratefully accept monetary donations to shop for items to fill our shelves. We now have plenty of brown paper bags! Thank you!

CATECHISTS...Catechists’ Day at Guardian Angels is Sat., Sept. 11, 9am-1pm, keynote speaker is Mary Rowland. Catechetical Sunday is Sept. 19 with commissioning at 10am and 5:30pm Masses.
...all catechists have meeting at their regular R.E. session time the week of Sept. 13.


LITURGY OF THE WORD WITH CHILDREN....is during Sunday Masses. Children ages 5-12 years are encouraged to attend (no under 4’s please). There is no sign up.
 

NURSERY ON SUNDAY MORNINGS…...in Rm 8, Parish Center, will be back in session Sept. 12th, during the 10am Mass. This service is for children ages 0-4 yrs. All nursery staff are background checked.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)

BIBLE STUDY FOR ADULTS ~ The Parables...begins the week of Sept. 20 for six weeks
...if you have never been in Bible Study, this is a great course to help you get acquainted.
...sessions are Tuesdays 6pm beginning Sept. 21; Thursdays 7pm beginning Sept. 23; Wednesdays 7pm beginning Sept. 29; Wednesdays 9:30am beginning Oct. 6; Mondays 7pm beginning Oct. 18.

BEREAVEMENT GROUP:
...we invite parishioners who have lost loved ones (family members, friends, co-workers) to join us the 1st Saturday of the month, from 10-11:30am, in the Parish Center Conference Room. We plan to meet Oct. 2 and Oct. 2. If five or more people would like a 6-week session, we will begin that on Nov. 6 for six Saturdays.

REQUEST FOR BOOKS ON GRIEVING...if you have a book or music CD that helped you in your time of grief, please consider donating it to our parish library in memory of your loved one

 

SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING:....If you are seriously ill, anticipating surgery, or weakened because of prolonged illness or advanced age, you are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of the Sick. Please contact one of the priests following Mass or call the Parish office during business hours — Mon-Thu 9am-5pm; Fri-Sat 9am-4pm - 448-1213.


ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT...there is no adoration of the Blessed Sacrament or evening Mass on the first Fridays of summer (July, August and September). Adoration/first Friday evening Mass resumes Fri., Oct. 1.

FALL FESTIVAL 2010  “Irish Eyes Are Smiling

~~ Oct. 8-9-10 ~~

..next planning meeting is This Thurs., Sept. 9, 7pm, Parish Center. All parishioners are invited to attend and all committee members are encouraged to attend. Final meeting is Sept. 23.
…Raffle tickets/letters have been mailed to all registered parishioners who didn’t pick them up. Early Bird Raffles for $50 are Sun., Sept. 26 and Sept. 26, after the 11:30am Mass. Get those tickets in!
...NEEDED: books (hard/paperback), 2 liter bottles of soda, and plastic, terra cotta or ceramic flowerpots (drop all these off in box at back of church); NEW silent/live auction items (in original package—drop off at parish office and please fill out Auction Donation form)
...all are invited to volunteer some time to our yearly major fundraiser. Needed: committee members, booth managers/workers, set-up/tear down workers. Signup board is available after all the Masses. You won’t be disappointed...working or attending...there’s lots of ways to support our Fall Festival.
...aside from our delicious food court and Saturday’s BBQ Dinner, there is the talented crafter’s row and challenging game booths; music to dance to Friday and Saturday nights; entertainment and silent auction Saturday afternoon; our popular Live Auction w/ fantastic bargains 1pm Sunday; and Grand Raffle concludes the festival at 7pm Sunday.
